Link roundup

1. Those terrible looking DC Universe Classics "All-Stars" have apparently been at least temporarily canceled.

2. Cheating casinos as a good Christian:
What those students may not realize is that their teacher belongs to an unlikely subset of blackjack players. Jones is a Christian card counter.

Until last year, he and his high school friend from Bible camp, Ben Crawford, ran a group of more than 30 religious card counters. Based in Seattle, the rotating cast of players says it won $3.2 million over five years — all while regularly attending church, leading youth groups and studying theology.

But first Jones and his group had to wrestle with the apparent moral paradox: Should Christians be counting cards?

“My father-in-law flipped out about it,” Jones said. “I remember Ben and I discussing everything. Are we being dishonest to the casinos? Is money an evil thing?”

Group members believed what they were doing was consistent with their faith because they felt they were taking money away from an evil enterprise. Further, they did not believe that counting cards was inherently a bad thing; rather, it was merely using math skills in a game of chance.

3. Consumer Reports:
Our Fisker Karma cost us $107,850. It is super sleek, high-tech—and now it’s broken....We buy about 80 cars a year and this is the first time in memory that we have had a car that is undriveable before it has finished our check-in process.

Batgirl, Beetlejuice, and Twilight dolls

New Tonner and Barbie preorders at the BBTS: Batgirl, Beetlejuice, and Twilight.

Link roundup

1. Banksy in a graffiti battle.

2. Gabe Delahaye's latest Walking Dead episode summary.

3. Custom business card giveaway.

4. The Old Republic is a Gold Box deal right now at Amazon, down to $40.

5. Board game designer Kim Vandenbroucke looks at board games trends from Toy Fair 2012:
Hasbro’s lineup of children’s game and been gender-ized! (yes, I made that word up) Classic games like Candy Land, Twister, Clue and Connect 4 have been redesigned to appeal to one gender. Connect 4 is no longer yellow and blue, now it’s black, gold and red with very masculine packaging. The Connect 4 line extension, Connect 4 Dunk, will have a basketball themed commercial that will target boys. Obviously, with the Battleship movie on the horizon, we all know that Battleship is solidly in the boy’s group of game and that will continue, and Clue will join the ranks of boy’s products with this year’s into Clue Eliminiation. On the other end of the spectrum, Candy Land and Twister are going to be girls’ products. Candy Land Princesses and a new version of Twister Dance featuring Britney Spears were featured in the Hasbro showroom.

I’ll admit that I’m sad to see Connect 4 go to the boys, but I think it will be interesting to see how gender-izing previously gender neutral games will go.

Marvel Legends Series 2 Captain America

Terrific photo gallery showing off the new Marvel Legends Captain America. I didn't care for the figures in the first 2012 Marvel Legends set, but the second set (which you can preorder at the BBTS) is pretty great.
